Grantham 4 v 0 Horncastle
The game started slowly for both teams as they tested each other out. Grantham soon found Horncastle weakness as they cut them to pieces on the right hand side. The first half saw Grantham hi t the crossbar 5 times and the upright 3 times and find the Horncastle keeper in fine form. The second half saw Grantham dominance finally pay off. Callum Bells cross resulted in a goalmouth scramble and Town was awarded a penalty. Ryan Broxholme stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home. The goal meant Horncastle has to push forward which helped Grantham even more. Callum Bell then won the ball and audaciously lobbed the keeper for towns 2nd. The best move of the match followed as Matt Fowlds was picked out on the wing, he beat he marker to cross the ball in for Nathan Brettoner to score at the near post. Bell’s inch perfect pass then picked out Henry Picker who ran on a slipped his shot calmly past the Horncastle keeper. The score could of and should have been double figures but it was a solid start to the season for Grantham. Ryan Spencer was man of the match with a commanding display
