Cleethorpes 2 v 3 Grantham
Without a manager and with only ten players fit Grantham travelled to Cleethorpes to take on Clee Community. They got of to the worst possible start when they conceded an early goal. But this Grantham team is made of sterner stuff and were rewarded with a penalty when Tody Gott was fouled. Steve Johnson tucked the penalty away.
Grantham grew in confidence and Josh Hutison and Sam Kirton combined well to find Steve Johnson who cross was smashed home by Tom Matthews. This was Johnson last contribution as he was carried of with an injury. But the 9 men of Grantham still pushed forward and gave themselves some breathing space when Tom Luto scored a secular volley from the edge of the box.
Clee put Grantham under a lot of pressure towards the end of the game and finally broke through in the last minute. Grantham thoroughly deserved this County Cup win and now progress into the quarter final.
