Grantham took on Hednesford in bright sun shire on a fantastic playing surface. In their yellow away kit Grantham started the brightest. After only 8 minutes Sam Hill threaded an inch perfect ball through to Billy Hurst, He ran through and fired home from 20 yards. Grantham continued to dominate the first half but could not add to their score. The second half was a different story as Hednesford poured forward and struck the foot of the post. With 10 minutes to go Harry Bartlett's free kick was tipped over the bar, Bartlett took the corner and it was met by Eddie Bishop, his header was heading for the top corner, when a Hednesford player handled the ball on the line. He was Dismissed and Sam Hill converted the penalty spot. Grantham sealed the points 3 minute later when another Bartlett free kick was flicked in by Eddie Bishop. Grantham won 3-0
