Retford 2 - 2 Grantham Town
A lacklustre display saw the young Gingerbreads only manage a share of the spoils against a decent Retford Utd side. Grantham started confidently and enjoyed most of the early possession although the home side were making it difficult and restricting the visitors to snatched long range shots. Retford started to apply more pressure but it was Grantham who took the lead on the stroke of half -time, when a Daniel Moulds shot was dropped by the keeper and Alex Dempster pounced to score .Grantham did not get into their rhythm, with individuals trying too much, and it was no surprise when they got caught in possession and the home side broke to equalise. Retford then took the lead, which at least woke Grantham who started to play with more passion. A good move involving Will Barron saw a shot blocked on the line and after some good work in midfield from Joseph Hoskins, Alex Dempster got his second to level the game once again. Euan Dolby could have won it late on but saw his chip over the keeper hit a post. Man of the Match was Daniel Moulds who defended excellently and tried to pass the ball out to set up attacks.
