Rushdens 1 v 3 Grantham Town

Grantham put themselves in pole position to win the league with a good win over fellow title chasers Rustons.

Early on both sides were cagey but good pressure from the visitors resulted in Daniel Moulds firing just over the bar from distance.

After 20 minutes, good work from Alex Dempster caused a defender to hastily clear straight at Euan Dolby and the ball rebounded into the net. The goal brought confidence and the Gingerbreads started to dominate, this continued into the second half and after five minutes Frazer Wingad forced the 'keeper into a good save but slotted home at the second attempt.

Good work from Euan Dolby followed by a fine pass from Alex Dempster put in William Barron, who with a lot still to do cut back and fired into the far corner to put Grantham in total control.

Josh Kelham and Daniel Moulds have developed a good defensive partnership and kept the home side at bay until the last minute when Rustons scored a consolation goal after a slick move.

Man of the Match was Alex Dempster for his hard work and creativity
