Grantham 5 v 1 Lowlands
For the first few minutes the visitors passed the ball very well, hardly giving Grantham a touch but once the home side got into their stride there was only going to be one winner. Warning was served when Alex Dempster hit the post and moments later Joseph Lote opened the scoring, powering home a Will Barron cross. After being tripped in the box, Alex Dempster got up and confidently stroked home the resultant penalty to double the lead. Towards the end of the half Lowlands hit back, but a two goal lead was maintained when Euan Dolby fired in after a great turn and pass from Alex Dempster. Grantham had been playing against the wind in the first half and needed to work very hard, none more so than the excellent Josh Kelham. The Gingerbreads had a bit of luck with their fourth when an under pressure defender cleared straight at a teammate’s shins, the ball rebounding into the net. Joseph Lote's powerful shot was parried by the 'keeper and Will Barron was on hand to tap in for 5-1, before Man of the Match, Alex Dempster got a deserved second after an outstanding performance. Grantham then took their foot off the gas allowing Lowlands to score twice in the closing minutes, the first, a good near post flick from a corner. All in all a good performance from the home side, taking them to the top of the league.
