All of Grantham Town's Youth Football Manager, Coaches and helpers have been CRB ' Enhanced ' Checked
A BBC Radio Lincolnshire investigation has shown that 480 junior football clubs in Lincolnshire are being run by volunteers who have not had Criminal Record Bureau checks.
The Lincolnshire FA says it is encouraging clubs to sign up to the FA's 'Charter Standard' which means that not only will all their volunteers have the checks carried out, but also that that clubs will have codes of conduct and qualified coaches.
At the moment around 44% of the clubs in Lincolnshire have signed up to the scheme.
While everyone is in agreement that the checks should be more widely used, Sue Law, Head of Equality and Child Protection at the FA points out that this will not be a quick process as there are over 40,000 clubs across the country and as such a lot of admin involved.
But she added that the process is being rolled out and they expect CBR checks to be mandatory by the start of next season.
